Have you ever said, "I really want to be in a relationship"? Then you finally found one, and after a short time you realized, "I don't want a relationship!"? The reason is that the relationship was only a means to an end. What you really wanted was what you thought a relationship would give you: the end values of love, companionship, or intimacy. Relationships don't automatically lead to these more important values. You must know that these are your real goals, and consistently interact with them in mind.
Remember, you can achieve your means values in life (money, position, degree, children, relationships) and still be unhappy. Unless you live consistent with your deepest (end) values, you'll achieve but still lack the ultimate fulfillment you truly deserve.
