Getting Started In Your Online Business: Part 1

Getting Started Online: Part 1

The Internet – The World’s Largest Marketplace.

There are 7,031,099,134 people in the world.

2,349,352,980 of them have internet access,
that’s around 33.4%.

The Internet has tremendous growth potential and is currently the World’s largest market with the largest exchange of information and the largest community in existence.

The Internet gives you the opportunity to expand your current business, or start a new one, or joint venture with other business.  You need to take advantage of this opportunity and take your business online or risk it becoming irrelevant in this information age.

The best part about Internet Marketing is you don’t need to know how it works, have any technical expertise, or even be computer savvy.  You just need to start. And there’s many ways for the beginner to do that.

The first thing you want to do is decide what you want to sell.  And you have to sell SOME product or service for it to be called a business. There are 3 main kinds of products you can sell and although you could do all 3 at at the same time, we recommend you start with one, focus on that, then try out another once you gain a bit of experience and knowledge.

1. Your Own Products
You can create your own product or service from scratch.  If you are an artist or craftsman you might make your own products and offer them for sale. Or you can offer a service such as career counseling or matchmaking.

Better yet, you could create information products that tell people how to do all that. That’s far more lucrative because you don’t have to manage inventory, shipping, or having to be physically there and your profit margins are higher.  There’s even a grandmother who makes a tidy monthly income teaching people how to quilt.  She makes videos, books, and sells them on her own website and makes a living doing what she knows and loves to do.

2. Someone Else’s Products
If you don’t have your own product or service to sell, you can market someone else’s products through affiliate programs.  With an affiliate program, you are paid a percentage of sales that are made when you refer someone to a company’s website.

There are many ways you can get paid–when a customer makes a purchase through you, when a prospect signs up for a mailing list, when you refer a website–affiliate programs will track visitors from your link and pay a commission accordingly.

3. Reselling a Product
If you don’t want to do either of these, you could buy a physical product wholesale and ship them out from your home.  Or have the company from which you buy wholesale do all the shipping for you. You just promote the products and take the orders.  Another idea is to buy products off a marketplace like eBay and resell them for a profit.  Your product doesn’t even have to be something useful.  One person even sold a McDonald’s Chicken McNugget shaped like George Washington’s head for $8100.

Once you’ve decided which route you want to go for, research the market for it, and get started making money online. The opportunities and possibilities on the Internet are endless!
