We’re sure you’ve heard about some of those highly paid experts that are on the major stages, the big coaches. They all seem to have their own systems, blueprints, frameworks and formulas for you to either lose weight, invest your way to financial freedom, make money online. Where do they get them from and in fact, why do you even need one?
The reason you need a framework is to give your clients and customers a higher perceived value for what you’re selling. Now, you may say that you just custom tailor your process or method for getting results specifically to your clients. You find out what they need and then solve their problem. There’s nothing wrong with that BUT what we’ve found a better way over the years we’ve spent working with our clients.
When you have a 3, 5, or 7-step framework or system, your customers actually trust that what you have works every time and is repeatable. The understanding they come up with is that when they enter into your system, your process, the “black box” as it were, they come out the other side with results. What’s more, they’ll be willing to pay more for an organized, proven system. (TIP: It’s fine to have an even-numbered system but studies have shown greater action when using an odd-numbered system)
So now that you know why you want a framework, how do you create one? Or if you already have one, how can you enhance it? (TIP: If you’re wondering whether to go with a formula, blueprint, or system, just pick a name that fits best for you.)
The first question you need to ask is what is the result that you want to create for your clients or the problem you want to solve every time. The more specific you get the better. For example, if you want to help people “Lose Weight,” that’s not quite so specific. A better one would be you want to help people “Lose 10kg.” A fantastic one would be a “7-Step Formula to Lose 10kg.” The more specific the result, the better it is perceived.
The second thing you need is to take the actions, the beliefs, the stages that you take to create that result and break them down into small enough chunks that make your clients feel, “Yes, we can do that too!” That will make it simple for you to teach it to them.
The third thing you need to do is to find a physical drawing that will most accurately represent your framework. You can use this in your presentations or you can draw it out when you have face-to-face meetings with your clients. This way, your clients feel that there’s something tangible that they feel they’re buying into. As a coach, consultant, and speaker, you are selling your intellectual property and it feels real when it takes the form of a physical model. You can use circles, venn diagrams, pyramids, and so on.
What you effectively want is a staged system that you can effectively teach your clients, and it’ll work for whichever industry you’re coaching, teaching, consulting, training, or find yourself speaking in.
