A recent study done by Columbia University’s Earth Institute has put out the first World Happiness Report, commissioned by the United Nations Conference on Happiness (yes, that exists). It contains over a hundred pages of studies on world happiness and I’ll bet you’re wondering what makes people around the world happy.
Right at the top of the list, the study found that richer people are happier than poorer people on average. Wealth is only one factor in overall happiness; others include personal freedom, lack of corruption, and social support.
Second from the top, unemployment obviously reduces happiness, but not because of what you may think. It’s not the loss of income, but the loss of things like self-esteem and workplace social life that lead to a drop in happiness. According to the study, even low-quality jobs yield more satisfaction than being unemployed.
So, if you think about it, it’s not so much being rich and having money that makes people feel successful and happy. It’s the way people around the world FEEL about money, jobs and income that makes them happy or not.
Each of us has a personal money blueprint ingrained in our subconscious mind. And it is this blueprint that determines our financial life. We get it in our heads all through our lives, from our parents, teachers, people we respect–all of these combined experiences contribute to how we feel about money. Do you believe you’re not in control of your money? Or, that successful people are just luckier than you and were probably born rich? Or, that there’s never enough money no matter how hard you work?
All that is part of your money blueprint. The bad news is, this blueprint will stay with you forever. But the good news is, you can always identify and change it. It’s not your skills, luck, or education that makes you successful. It’s how you think, feel and respond to money that will make you feel truly successful and happy.
One of the things T. Harv Eker teaches at the Millionaire Mind Intensive is that all money is at the end of the day is one simple thing. Service. If you lack money or are living in a state of lack then it means that you are not serving as many people as you should. If you had a steady flow of customers that took your service then money would flow freely to you. So in effect, money in itself isn’t what you should be working for, you should be working on yourself to be the best service provider in your business, pour your all into the product you believe in, and do all you can to satisfy customers and money will be a NATURAL result of all your efforts.
So is being happy really that difficult? Probably not as hard as you think. But then, redrawing your financial blueprint probably needs more work. If you feel you’re ready to quit being out of control of your finances, trying to get out of debt, tired of working day in and day out with no end in sight, sick of being unhappy all the time, then it’s time for you to take action and commit to changing how you feel about money.
Time to take massive action towards changing your money mindset by coming to the Millionaire Mind Intensive in the UK. For more information about the event, visit http://www.millionaireminduk.com
