Easter is coming. If you’re not familiar with the holiday, Christians around the world remember it as one of the most significant events in their calendar. This occasion is something that represents new life for them, hence the Easter eggs. We’re still not sure how the bunny came into the picture.
Anyway, what you may not know is that Easter is usually celebrated close to the Spring Equinox, which is also a very significant time for other cultures and faiths around the world. They recognize the season as the end of winter and the start of spring, the change in weather bringing with it the re-emergence of fresh growth representing new life, fresh beginnings, and rebirth. Even in Southeast Asia, many calendars traditionally celebrate this season as their new Year. In Thailand their festival, Song Kran, speaks of renewal and cleansing. Since it’s the hottest time of the year for them, they literally “cleanse” and renew” by splashing each other (and incidentally, hapless tourists) with water!
Maybe it’s time for you to experience a fresh start, a new beginning as we enter this season. You may be stuck in a dead-end job, or directionless, or feel stuck in a hopeless situation. What ever it is, there’ always hope, a way out, a chance to experience a rebirth.
It could be a bad habit you need to drop, an idea in your head you never got to work on, or some action you need to take that you’ve been procrastinating on. Here’s are 7 ideas you can do right now that will give you some clarity and perhaps help you find renewed purpose in life.
1. Just Write or Draw.
Get a blank piece of paper and just write. Don;t give yourself a framework, just write the first things that come to your mind, as quickly as possible. Don’t worry about organizing your thoughts, just write non-stop for 5 minutes. If you prefer, you could draw pictures instead. You won’t believe the amount of release this exercise will give you.
2. Just Breathe.
Take a deep breath, hold it in, then exhale. Do this a few times. You’ll find yourself more relaxed, calm, and the increased oxygen flow benefits the brain and thinking processes immensely.
3. Just Take a Walk.
Our bodies are connected to our minds and sometimes just walking it off allows us to release the tension and anxiety we feel when we’re stressed and need a moment’s peace.
4. Just Ask.
It pays off to have a friend, a mentor, an expert or coach; someone you trust and respect to help you organize your thoughts and give you a bigger-picture approach to your situation. Just remember to ask the right people to talk it out. People who aren’t quick to offer solutions but who will support, encourage, and thoughtfully consider your options from different points of view.
Go ahead, take some time for yourself and we hope some of these ideas take you to a place of breakthrough and bring you opportunities you never even dreamed of.
